Sunday Morning Memories

It is a beautiful Sunday morning. The warmth of the sun feels so good after a very cold spring. I am sitting here thinking about how beautiful this time of year is. Everything is so green and new. There is a gentle breeze coming in my window and I can hear the birds chirping outside. It makes me think about the story in the Book of Mormon when Alma is confronted by Korihor the anti-christ. Korihor asks Alma for a sign that there is a God. Alma says, "...all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it..." I love that.
I was able to go to my parents cabin on Saturday. I just love going to there. It is so peaceful and beautiful. I have such wonderful memories of and feelings for that place. I love sitting around the fire, hiking to the lake, playing by the river, playing cards, doing puzzles and eating wonderful food made by mom. I love to look around at all that dad has done with his own two hands to make that place beautiful and inviting. I really hope to go there more this summer. Life gets so busy and the summer seems to go by so fast.
Phil and I have been talking about the talk Dallin H. Oaks gave at General Conference in October. It was titled "Good, Better, Best." There are so many good things out there that we can fill our lives up to overflowing that we miss out on the important things. It feels like I have been going a 100 miles per hour lately doing good things. But, I am I doing the best things? Do I fill my time with good things that are taking me away from the best things?
Reggie is going to be a senior this coming school year and then preparing to serve a mission. I have two years with him and then he is moving on to the next phases of his life. Frank is going to be driving and dating within the next six months. Alycia is 12 turning 15 before my eyes. Robinson is almost as tall as Alycia and only 10. Jenna is turning 7 in June. I remember thinking when my older kids where small that that phase of life would last forever. Boy was I wrong!
I am looking forward to this summer break. I hope to be able to slow down a little and concentrate on the best things.

I love that you think deep thoughts- and talk to Phil about General Conference talks. Although that was an extremely pertinent talk to our generation. Much of my time seems to be spent doing "good" things, and unfortunately some of it isn't even in that category... It is stuff in the "utter waste of time" category- like the housework that undoes itself within 5 minutes of being done. Oh well... What gorgeous scenery you have there in Mendon. WOW! It is so fun to see how big your family is getting.

Thank you for sharing your "Sunday Morning Memories."Good, Better Best" is one of my all time favorite conference talks. Thanks for the reminder to strive to do what is best. I know I need to work harder on the "best" things. I am traveling for work this week so I will try and call you while I am on the road.

I love you,

I'm so glad you are blogging, and judging by your first post--it's going to be sooo good!
It's a great way to keep in touch--I think our whole BHS gang should do it!
Love you!
