Gingerbread Houses

We had some friends, the Montgomerys and the Cheneys, over on Monday night for Family Home Evening. We made graham cracker houses.
The frosting was almost a flop but my dear friend Jeri came to the rescue and saved the day. I have actually never made gingerbread frosting before but I thought how hard could it be? Before Jeri arrived, I had bent the beaters on my Bosh and burned out the motor on my hand mixer. I guess it was a little too thick. It is amazing what a little milk can do. Who would have thought?
The houses turned out great despite the frosting fiasco. What a fun evening we had!

Memories of Alycia

Since Alycia has had her birthday this week, I couldn't resist going through the pictures. What fun memories of my sweet little girl! I love you Alycia!

Surprise!!!

Alycia's friends threw her a surprise party. While she was shopping in Salt Lake they came over and decorated. We didn't quite get a picture of the surprise so we had to re-enact it. You get the idea.
Frank was such a big help that day. He went and picked out a cake, balloons and pizza for the bash. We couldn't have done it without him.

This is a picture of the cake my dear friend, Denise, made. Monday was Alycia's actual birthday and I was still in down with a bad back. My sweet friends, Denise and Nancy, brought a birthday dinner in for Alycia because they knew I couldn't do it. What would I do without great friends!

Look Who's 13!!!!!

Saturday, Phil took Alycia and her friend, Breanna, to Salt Lake for her birthday. They had a great time. They went to the climbing wall at Gateway, had lunch, went shopping, and went to a movie.

In the News!

Our city has a new elementary school, Mountainside Elementary. With this being an election year, the students were able to hold their own election. However, it wasn't for McCain or Obama. It was for Cougar, Moose, and Hawk. That is right. Those were the candidates for the new school's mascot. The students were able to learn about the election process through this experience. Monday was voting day. This picture was on the front page of the local paper today. If you look at the upper left corner, Jenna is getting ready to place her vote in the ballot box. As you can see by the title, Cougar won. My kids were a little disappointed. Robbie and Jenna were really hoping Moose would win.

The Dog Ate My Homework!

I can't resist sharing this story. I am sure you have heard the excuse, "the dog ate my homework." Well, it now has new meaning to me. The other day Phil and I had been gone to Reggie's swim meet and some of the kids had stayed at home. When we got back, we were getting dinner ready and setting the table. Robbie and Jenna were getting the glasses out of the cupboard. Phil overhead them talking to each other and Robbie was saying something like "don't tell." Well of course that peaked our interest. So we begin asking them what they are talking about. Each of them said it was nothing with a tone of it was something. We continued to asked. I finally told Robbie that he should probably just tell because I will find out sooner or later and that it is better that I find out sooner rather than later. After a few minutes of this, Robbie finally says, "the dogs ate my homework." Phil and I looked at each other and then looked at Rob with confusion in our eyes. Right then Jenna pops off with, "yah, Robbie put peanut butter on it!" It took a minute for it to really register. Come to find out Robbie had smeared his homework in peanut butter so he would not have to do it. I promptly told him to go and try to find it and that he would still have to do it. Sure enough the homework was found. The papers were licked clean with a few nibbles here and there but overall still in pretty good shape. It was salvagable. Needless to say, Rob did do his homework and I had to take a picture of it. Everytime I hear the phrase, "the dog ate my homework", I will always think of little Rob!

Jenna the cowgirl (center) with her friends, Elle the teenager (left) and McKenzie the witch (right), after a night of trick-or-treating.

Halloween Piano Recital

Alycia and Jenna had there piano recital the day before Halloween. They could wear their costume. Jenna was a cowgirl and Alycia was a bunny. They did a great job! Alycia played "Mysterious Shadows" and Jenna played a duet with her teacher called "The First Hoe Down."

Pumkin Carving

For a long time we have gotten together with our friends to carve pumpkins. It is such a fun tradition and we look forward to it each year. There is good food, football for the guys, pumkin carving for the kids, chillin' and a movie for the teens, and gabbing for the gals! We love it! We usually come home and get the pumpkins lit up to see how they look! We are so lucky to have such great friends!

Jenna's Angel Bear

Jenna wanted to take pictures of her bear, Angel, and post it to our blog. Well, here she is!

Smile Your on Candid Camera!

Robbie got a hold of my camera much like Jenna did. It cracks me up to see what they will do with a camera when you are not looking. He also made a recording that I couldn't resist in blogging.

Homecoming 2008

Because Reggie is a senior a sign was put in our yard. He is participating in cross-country right now.

Reggie was nominated for Homecoming King. These are the four finalists. Reggie is the second one on the left in the white suit jacket. Mountain Crest has on Homecoming Parade and they finalists were in it.

It is hard to see him. This is at half time during the Homecoming game. Reggie was 1st runner up. Pretty cool!

Frank was in the Homecoming Parade too. Here he is walking beside the MC Swim Team float. He plays football but will be swimming next month so he decided to walk with them.
